Social Trading

Join FP Markets Social Trading: a thriving global community of traders who can follow and copy the strategies of seasoned investors or who publish their trading and earn fees for sharing their expertise and getting copied.

What is Social Trading?

Social Trading – one of the most innovative developments in fintech – is a simplified way to navigate the global markets if you do not have the time, knowledge or experience. It also provides seasoned investors with a way to monetise their expertise by allowing others to copy their trades.

With Social Trading, traders of all experience levels can browse, follow, and automatically copy the strategies of top-performing traders, without the need to formulate their own investment plan. Meanwhile, professional traders can share their trading activity, grow their online following, and get copied to earn a performance fee which they set themselves.

What to know before you start Social Trading

Trading experience

Social Trading offers individuals interested in trading but who lack the experience and know-how a gateway to the global markets. However, it is vital to remember that all forms of trading involve risk. Social traders are therefore encouraged to actively educate themselves on market volatility and learn to identify high-risk trading.

Risk management

Copying the trading strategies of experienced traders does not eliminate risk. Social traders still depend on other people’s decisions but remain fully responsible for potential losses in their brokerage account. Regardless of trade automation, it is highly recommended that traders learn and understand how to manage risk.

Portfolio diversification

Social Trading enables traders to diversify their portfolios by copying multiple Providers, with each specialising in different instruments. This way, social traders spread their risk. For example, you may allocate a portion of your capital to a Provider’s Bitcoin strategy, and another to one focusing on Forex.

Social Trading vs Copy Trading

Although often used interchangeably, Social Trading and copy trading are not one and the same. Copy trading refers to the process of binding your account with that of another trader in order to replicate the trades they execute. On the other hand, Social Trading is a broader term, which includes the community aspect of trading as well as ways by which you can control how you copy other traders’ trading behaviour. With FP Markets’ Social Trading, you can modify how you mirror the behaviour of your selected Providers, while trading still remains automated.

What is Social Trading?

Social trading involves the process of learning from the trading behaviour and strategies of experienced traders and analysing their performance using a wide range of statistical data. Social traders have the option of automatically replicating the trading behaviour of other traders through a copy trading platform. Social trading helps inexperienced traders become familiar with new concepts such as derivatives trading and leverage.

A Provider is the person whose trading behaviour can be copied. Providers tend to be experienced traders who voluntarily give you the opportunity to copy their trades in exchange for a performance fee. A Follower follows a Provider using a copy trading system that automatically replicates the latter’s trading activity.

VTIFX’ Social Trading on MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 allows you to become a part of a community that shares its performance. The copying system allows traders to choose from a variety of copying modes while the ratings module provides detailed performance statistics. The design of the interface is informative courtesy of transparent dynamic charts and tables.
